I'm such a sucker for diners. Right off the bat I just want to say what made this a 5 star were the employees. We were instantly greeted by a waitress who was so warm and friendly. And I guess after placing our order, it was the end of her shift and she was replaced by an equally upbeat, friendly waitress. We were treated like family and I haven't felt this kind of genuine welcoming vibe in a long time.
While the food is your typical diner fare, I can say that they do it very well. The chorizo avocado skillet topped with two eggs was awesome. The potatoes at the bottom were so incredibly crispy and the whole meal was just so comforting, like the little restaurant itself. The prices are incredibly reasonable, the portions were filling and while we were eating the owner came out and went to each table and asked how everything was. Competition for Fresh Start Cafe for sure. I'm a fan. -

Our first visit here. We came for a Saturday lunch. We are so happy to have found this diner. All of the food we ordered was very, very good. We had chicken rice soup, tuna casserole on toasted rye bread with a slice of cheddar cheese, french fries, their homemade coleslaw, the Pecan chicken Dijon salad. I wish I had room for the toffee cream pie for dessert. We also ordered a medium size cheese pizza to go to bring home. Service was friendly and washrooms were clean.

What an amazing Flash back. I grew up here 20 years ago and had come to this place many many times as a child. However walking in this morning nothing has seemed to change at all. Still very much a old school classic diner. However being in Elmhurst it is clean but you still have the flashback of something 20 to 30 years-old. The waitresses even seem they could be the same as when I lived here! Ha!
Classic and simple like things used to be. I absolutely love it and will come back when I'm in the area.
The breakfast was .... breakfast. It was good but I don't think I've had a bad Omelet before. So this would rate with the best of the breakfast places in this diner category.
If you want a flashback to how things used to be then come try breakfast here. You will be among the old timers from the area and good service. -

mr.g's is always one of my favorite diners to go to! i used to come here a lot with my family when i was younger & haven't been here since so long!
their cheeseburgers are amazing! & i love their fries. i also like how with every meal it can come with some soup. this time i got the cream of chicken rice, & it was super yummy! one of the other most recent times i've come, i got
the i think bacon potato soup and it was amazing!
mr.g's has so many choices of food you can get from a whole breakfast menu all day to jus the regular menu& even desert menu! i think this place is so underrated & if more people thought to stop by they'd be so much more popular!
whenever i want a good tasty meal i always think of mr.g's! you'll never be disappointed !!!
